At the invitation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ROCB A/P and the WCO participated in the Capacity Building Program on Cross-border Paperless Trade and Digital Trade Facilitation for BIMSTEC. The participants from the ROCB A/P were Mr. Jun Tajima, Head of ROCB A/P, along with Program Managers Mr. Jaemin Cho and Ms. Asuka Nagamatsu.
The program, organized by ADB in collaboration with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the BIMSTEC Secretariat, provided an excellent platform for BIMSTEC member countries to strengthen the digital trade landscape across the region by fostering knowledge exchange and enhancing understanding of digital trade measures.
WCO experts Mr. Juan Diego Chavarría (Role of National Single Window for Paperless Trade), Ms. Gordana Vidanović (Cross-border E-commerce), and Mr. Ammar Ahmed Mir (Pakistan Single Window) spoke online on their subjects-matter.
The three-day event covered key topics such as BIMSTEC's Trade Facilitation Strategic Framework 2030, Digital Trade Policies, WTO TFA, Cross-border Paperless Trade, National Single Window (NSW), and Cross-border E-commerce. A key takeaway was the critical importance of continuous capacity building, particularly in supporting SMEs, women traders, and the digitalization of customs processes.
ROCB A/P continues to strengthening its ties with partner organizations to better understand their activities to seek possible cooperations with them to support Member Administrations.
