Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, WCO Secretary General attended the events related the Japan Customs 150 anniversary namely, Symposium on Commemorate the 150th anniversary of Japan Customs and Celebration Event of the 150th Anniversary of the Inauguration of the Japan Customs at 25th and 28th December respectively. Mr. Norikazu Kuramoto, the Head of the ROCB A/P accompanied these events.
At the Symposium, Secretary General shared WCO overview and recent key activities, Environment surrounding Customs and Future challenges at his keynote speech. In addition to that, he delivered his congratulatory address at the Celebration Event to express congratulations and appreciation for long standing contribution for Japan’s economic growth.
The symposium was attended by executives of Japan Customs, many stakeholders including customs brokers and it was opportunity to exchange views on the role of customs in the changing and evolving international situation in the recent years. The ceremony was attended by Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko of Japan. Around 300 guests, including Members of the National Diet (Japan House of Representatives), Government Officials, related organizations and Ambassadors based in Tokyo, celebrated the milestone achievement.
